"Very good! I recommend it."

- Little Valley Mutant, May 22, 2012
"Hey there... having trouble downloading this... have Windows 7 and don't know if it's even compatible... who are the original authors and what is the address to download from? Thanks"

- Catherine McCracken, July 17, 2010
"Two words: FREAKING AWESOME!!!
I just downloaded it today and started testing it out... Now I'm hooked into it... It's so easy to use that I never had problem in it this very moment that I tried it... A great and user-friendly application for starters just like me...

"This is a superb bit of kit - easy to
use, clever features (such as cloning
bars for easy variations), full
support for extra downloaded sounds,
and the chance to control almost every
aspect of the mix of the drums. I
would like to see a set of toms
included in the basic sounds in
future, but since it's not too hard to
find those sounds online and stick
them in your machine, that's not a
huge gripe. When using Hotstepper, I
usually export my songs multiple
times, using strategic muting, to give
me seperate drums parts, enabling me
to mix and master the drums
individually to my liking in Audacity
after recording other parts. I have
tried other drum sequencers and
nothing, but nothing, comes close to
this. Thanks HOTSTEPPER!

"Excellent, intuitive, and not only for DJ's, I use it as a a standard drum dox."

- Pfeuh, April 2, 2010
"This is one great program! There is virtually no learning curve and it offers up a great deal of functionality. I recommend it for any musician, tech savvy or not...you will definitely find some use for this program! My only wish is that you could export each sequenced part as a separate audio file."

- Michael Martarano, March 6, 2010
"I just found and downloaded Hotstepper. But I need to register it to save .wavs and the website seems to be down. What do I do?"

- Dave, February 9, 2010

"OK, over in the Forum there is a post from me that lists where you can grab 5 Hotstepper Overviews that I have made...please read the post, grab the files, and enjoy!"

- J.Judge, May 6, 2009
"Hey - joguel,
To use what you have created in Hotstepper in another program, like AA, just go to "File - Write Pattern Wav". If you have a complete song in the Sequencer that you want to save, go to "File - Write Song Wav"..

There will be a series of quick Overviews coming soon for Hotstepper, I am in the last bits of creating them....."

- J.Judge, April 23, 2009

"this is a great piece of freeware! my band uses it as a default sequencer to get some synth and drumming machine sound. shame on that's discontinued, it's a great example of excellent software! if you want to listen, what it can do, come to www.myspace.com/interzoneband - drum machine and synths are from HotStepper."

- Adam Pawlowski, March 5, 2009
"The sound is brilliant but I have a little problem; I don't know how record the sounds to be used in music creations, like for example Abobe Audition (because it doesn't recognise them). Anyone can help me, please?"

- joguel, February 15, 2009
"Hotstepper is brilliant. There is control over stereo positioning, volume and pitch on every noise you put in. You can program bass guitar lines using pitch control. With volume control on each note or drum hit, you can make it sound more human (increasing volume on snare fills for example). With full panning control on every note/hit, you can separate out the components of the drum kit. I use it to create backing tracks to practice guitar with. I don't need to rely on a drummer or bass player anymore. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you heaps to the creators of this software. Anyone out there interested in sharing/swapping Hotstepper files?"

- Willie, February 12, 2009
"Why is it hard? I just clicked and re-downloaded it no problems...."

- J.Judge, October 10, 2008
"This program is great. Easy to use and it makes some great songs. Its too bad its not that popular. :\"

- Kylethedarkn, September 4, 2008
"Hotstepper seams like a very good program, But the help file as well as the web site does not work."

- Billy, August 7, 2008
"I have used Hotstepper for a few years now, and after trying tons of other drum machine software I find myself coming back to Hotstepper time and again.

By carefully editing any sound you place in it you can get a great track going in no time. I have used it on HipHop - Ambient stuff, of course, but it works equally well for Country, Rock, Smooth Jazz, and even Polka! As long as you know how the structure of the beat goes, Hotstepper will let you create it fast!

Leaf Drums might have a few more features & flexibility, but in my book Hot Stepper is my first recommendation when setting up a DAW for beginners. Hotstepper is HOT!"

- J.Judge, May 25, 2008

"HELLO , I'M LOOKINFG FOR THE newer version (2.03), BUT THE HOMEPAGE DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE , COULD ANYBODY SAY ME WHERE COULD I FIND IT OR IF SOMEONE HAVE IT SEND TO MY E-MAIL , THANKS A LOT."

- JOSE, December 3, 2007
"I own reason, live, cubase, logic, and pro-tools, and I still use hotstepper for making beats. This interface is simple. It is straitforward. It all makes sense. Kudos to the programmers for making my favorite sequencer ever. Its only downfall is the world of problems one faces in trying to build custom drum kits. I would urge the programmers to make all drum samples 48k or higher, and make it automatically transcode files imported at other sampling rates. Also, some way of changing the in and out points of your sample. Those are minor gripes. This program is very good."

- Steve Biloba, June 6, 2007
"its too good yaar i like it thanks for making this great sequencer

the main feature of this sequencer is it is simple and it has good control over pitch"

- H.Venkat Ramana, May 30, 2007

"Wow... this is GOOD.
I haven't seen a program like this or as good as this... ever!
"

- NullSolaris, March 11, 2007
"I have simply never found a freeware program as good as this for drum sequencing. I use it for all my demo songs and people always say the drums sound professional!

The only problems I have with it are that you can only load up 16 bit mono wav files, 32 bit stereo support and maybe additional format support would be great.

(Please note I'm running v1 so if these issues are addressed in the latest edition please ignore)"

- Tristan, October 3, 2006

"Free and quite easy to learn just by bumbling around. There are also some guitar/keyboard sounds. You can raise and lower the pitch in them to add emphasis to your drumbeat. Output to .wav. I'm going to be using this program regularly!"
