when i press the play button on my hammerhead it doesnt play the beats so i cant do anything on it..=/ any tips?

What I did was first, once you get it to work by setting it to run as admin- then...

when you push play;

make sure you have the channels at teh bottom turned on. Then you have to select the tabs to get the sound.

example.

Push play> channel one>(ON)>909BD>select GOLD tab above,
-> one beat will play.

more tabs= more beats

easy way to make sure- turn on all tabs and then turn them off one at a time and you will figure out how it works.

where it says "909BD" scroll down to "funky drummer" and it will play a sample beat- check all 4 gold tabs.

I believe each gold tab represents a quarter measure. The blue ones are fill in.

Once you get the hang of it its fun and easy.

I have vista and upon download I had the following issues.

1) after downloadin, when I tried to launch it, I got a splash screen that had a button on the bottom that said groovy- nothing happened when I clicked on it. So what I did was; right clicked on the shortcut>selected "compatibility" and checked the box that said run as administrator. Presto! I launched it again and the button worked.

2) I couldnt get it to play when I pushed the play button. Couldnt figure it out for a moment. Then I clicked the button on top that said "Userbank:Sample Bank" then I selected the default folder that was in the folder. When I pushed play and then turned on all the tabs (gold and blue) I got the default beats. So I knew it worked. THEN I clicked on "file" on top of the window and then "new" - from there I started selecting the drum sound, and then the tabs I wanted that sound to register- made my first beat in a couple of minutes.

3)when I minimized it, I thought I lost it because when I wanted to maximize it again it kept disappearing. But it was actually just minimized on the bottom of my screen- when I maxed it from there it opened right back up.

Anyway, I hope this helped. Yes, I do have Vista. If you have had it and it just stopped working- I believe some of the vista updates mess stuff up. I also have audacity and it stopped working right all of a sudden on me (so I thought) but all I had to do was go into the pref's and reset things to how I wanted them.

I would bet if yours just stopped working right, you probably just have to go and change the settings back to how they were.

I read the reply with all the info on what to do, and I had the second problem, and I tried what you sayd, and nothing happened. It's still not working.I'd like to get this to work, I had it on my old computer and it was awesome, but it deosn't work on this one. Any ideas?

i was running HH on win98 and had no problems. I recently got a new laptop with Vista and have been having the same problems. are you guys on pcs or macs?

here's what the FAQ said about Vista:

If you have User Account Control activated, you may have to choose "Run this program as an administrator" though. To enable that option, right click on the .exe file, go to "Properties", then the "Compatibility" tab.

We can open the program, its just that there is no sound, even when it is run as an administrator...

Anyways I have Vista, and Hammerhead worked fine; but for some reason beyond my knowledge it stopped arbitrarily... Perhaps an automatic online Vista update is what canceled my beloved Hammer.

If the program doesn't have sound in vista simply have it run as a win xp app by selecting the option under preferences...

but I tried that, as well as every other compatibility mode, and it still does produce sound.

Any other ideas?

For what it's worth, I encountered the same issue under Windows 7, and resolved the problem by setting Compatibility to Windows 98/Me (not XP) AND setting privilege level to "Run this program as an Administrator"
